Overview

Supply age-appropriate phlebotomy services; carry out laboratory specimen processing; use clinical info systems to satisfy lab orders; supply outcomes of screening and other info to patient care groups; develop accounts for lab specimens in medical facility demographics/billing system; train brand-new employees; take part in procedure enhancement efforts aimed at improving direct patient care and flow of specimens through the lab.

Requirements

Required Education/Experience:

– High school graduate or comparable and a minimum of among the following:

– At least 2 (2) years experience in lab specimen processing and/or phlebotomy; or

– Successful conclusion of a phlebotomy program through a postsecondary school or college recognized by a regional or nationwide certifying company acknowledged by the U.S. Dept of Education; or

– Laboratory associated college courses including Clinical Lab Assisant associate degree program or bachelor’s degree coursework in Biology, Chemistry, or related fields.

Required Credentials:

– Washington State Medical Assistant-Phlebotomist certification to be gotten within the very first 6 months of employment. Medical Assistant-Certified certification will be accepted in lieu of the Medical Assistant-Phlebotomist.

Preferred:

– Conclusion of an authorized phlebotomy program

– Phlebotomy Accreditation by a firm authorized by the U.S. Department of Education or National Commission for Health Certifying Agencies (NCHCA). A.S.C.P. or N.C.A grants typical qualifications.

– Pediatric phlebotomy experience

– Multilingual abilities.

– Associate or Bachelor’s degree in laboratory-related field

– Eligibility to get Washington State Medical Assistant-Registered accreditation to permit application of topical anesthetic cream
