Duties

The Phlebotomy Specialist I mostly carry out skin leak or venipuncture on patients of any ages for the purpose of acquiring a blood specimen for analysis in the scientific laboratory and is under the guidance of Lab Director/ Supervisor/ Manager. The PT I; 1) carries out computer data entry, filing, telephone communication and other clerical duties, 2) has sufficient understanding of the terms of tests purchased in the laboratory, 3) demonstrates good communication skills and telephone rules in greeting clients and other visitors in a polite and friendly manner, 4) demonstrates appropriate phlebotomy method and making use of equipment in gathering specimens from newborns to geriatric clients, 5) processes microbiology, immunology, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, chemistry and blood bank specimens, 6) processes specimens for recommendation to referral labs, 7) stocks and orders routine products, 8) maintains the cleanliness of storage locations, trays, centrifuges, refrigerators, freezers and work areas, 9) processes or load specimens on automated lab instrumentation in accordance with recognized policy and procedures, 10) May be help to Get samples at hospital/ OR, help lab specialty in figuring out samples for analysis and put away samples, help pathology, inventory, replenish materials, order products, mail pick up/ shipment, faxing, responding to phone, product shipments, and so on. 11) other tasks or duties might be designated by the department manager/director.

Certifications

Education and Work Experience

1. High School Diploma, or comparable, required

2. Present BCLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and keep present.

3. Minimum 1 year medical lab experience preferred
