Job Summary

The Phlebotomy Assistance Specialist I is responsible for the collection and processing of blood and other specimens as directed. Carries out proper specimen collection by confirming client ID, collecting specimens in appropriate tubes, making use of venipuncture/capillary strategies, and accurately identifying the specimens to make sure precise patient outcomes. Processes specimens properly for subsequent testing. Accessions, updates info and makes corrections to orders as required.

Task Requirements

Education

Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent

Experience

Needed: None

Preferred: 6 months phlebotomy experience OR 1 year related experience

Abilities

Strong analytical/problem resolving abilities

Capability to communicate effectively with different levels of management. Demonstrates clear verbal and written interaction skills.

Able to work individually and collaboratively in groups

Proficient in using computers and computer systems

Excellent customer care, time management, social, presentation, company, prioritizing, decision-making, and planning skills.
