Overview
Supply age-appropriate phlebotomy services; perform lab specimen processing; usage medical details systems to meet lab orders; supply outcomes of screening and other information to patient care teams; produce accounts for lab specimens in healthcare facility demographics/billing system; train brand-new workers; participate in procedure improvement efforts focused on enhancing direct client care and flow of specimens through the lab.

Requirements
Needed Education/Experience:
– High school graduate or comparable and a minimum of one of the following:
– At least 2 (2) years experience in laboratory specimen processing and/or phlebotomy; or
– Successful conclusion of a phlebotomy program through a postsecondary school or college certified by a local or nationwide certifying organization acknowledged by the U.S. Dept of Education; or
– Lab associated college courses consisting of Clinical Laboratory Assisant associate degree program or bachelor’s degree coursework in Biology, Chemistry, or related fields.
Required Qualifications:
– Washington State Medical Assistant-Phlebotomist accreditation to be obtained within the first 6 months of employment. Medical Assistant-Certified certification will be accepted in lieu of the Medical Assistant-Phlebotomist.
Preferred:
– Conclusion of an approved phlebotomy program
– Phlebotomy Certification by an agency authorized by the U.S. Department of Education or National Commission for Health Certifying Agencies (NCHCA). A.S.C.P. or N.C.A grants typical qualifications.
– Pediatric phlebotomy experience
– Multilingual abilities.
– Partner or Bachelor’s degree in laboratory-related field
– Eligibility to get Washington State Medical Assistant-Registered accreditation to permit application of topical anesthetic cream
