K. M. Szpara’s Docile is a science fiction parable about love and sex, wealth and debt, abuse and power, a challenging trip de force that at turns seduces and surprises. To be a Docile is to sell yourself to pay your moms and dads’ debts and buy your children’s future. His mother never recuperated from the Dociline she took throughout her term as a Docile, so when Elisha decides to attempt and remove the household’s financial obligation himself, he swears he will never take the drug that took his mom from him.
