Phlebotomist Job Duties

  • Balance production, donor care & quality requirements to fulfill everyday blood collection goals
  • Make the effort to personally connect with donors– listen to their stories and assist them understand the worth of their contribution
  • Be information oriented all day, every day, to guarantee that the blood you gather fulfills regulatory requirements and can be safely transfused
  • Remain versatile to work an extremely variable schedule that consists of early start times, late end times, weekends & vacations to satisfy the needs of our blood drive sponsors and donors.

Phlebotomist Task Qualifications

  • High school diploma or comparable required
  • Customer care experience, efficient spoken communication, and public relations abilities are required
  • Capability to load and unload lorries with or without affordable accommodation
  • Medical assistant or phlebotomy training preferred but not required
  • A present, legitimate motorist’s license and excellent driving record is required
  • Basic computer system abilities are desirable
  • Physical requirements may consist of the capability to raise to 50 lbs., periodically physically assisting donors experiencing an unfavorable reaction, in addition to pressing or pulling heavy weights up and down ramps and stairs (potentially approximately 250 pounds in weight and with approximately 75 degree angles). Physical requirements may be carried out in adverse climate condition.
  • All staff work as a group to setup and take apart the equipment required to conduct a mobile blood drive. This involves loading/unloading of vehicles, pushing carts up to 250 pounds, establishing beds and dealing with many totes including devices and treats for the donors.
  • Flexibility to work long, irregular hours and regular schedule changes is required.
  • Overnight travel is required approximately 4 nights per week.

SCHEDULING: Red Cross gathers blood throughout the week, on weekends and vacations. Typically, PERSONNEL TRAVEL OVERNIGHT as much as 4 nights per week. Hotel lodgings & meal stipends are offered; Red Cross lorries are utilized for travel. Red Cross supplies work schedules 3 weeks in advance, although modifications might be essential. Candidates need to confirm accessibility for versatility in scheduling and for overnight travel.

Pay: $1575 per hour & outstanding advantages, stipends, shift/weekend differentials
