Position Summary: The Lab Support Service technician carries out venipuncture and other specimen collections, order entry, processing, and/or reporting. # Duties # Responsibilities: Precisely determines patients and client samples per policy. Reviews workload to keep a reasonable wait time of less than 20 minutes for the completion of most laboratory services. Shows efficiency in the collection of blood and other samples. Shows efficiency in carrying out EKG recordings. Carries out waived laboratory screening, consisting of capillary glucose and hemoglobin. Ensures specimen suitability and preserves specimen integrity through the specimen processing process. Properly reports test results, including prompt communication of stat and vital outcomes, with suitable documentation in the LIS call line. Precisely distributes patient reports by means of faxing and/or prepares reports for mailing or courier shipment. Assists with inventory management by documenting received and open dates on products as needed by policy, and promptly alerting manager of low stock. Prepares biological samples, consisting of centrifugation, storage, and packaging for transport to lab in accordance with safety policies. Shows skilled use of the Laboratory Information System.
