Duties

The Phlebotomy Technician I mostly carry out skin puncture or venipuncture on clients of all ages for the purpose of acquiring a blood specimen for analysis in the medical laboratory and is under the guidance of Laboratory Director/ Supervisor/ Manager. The PT I; 1) carries out computer system data entry, filing, telephone interaction and other clerical responsibilities, 2) possesses adequate knowledge of the terminology of tests purchased in the lab, 3) shows good interaction skills and telephone etiquette in welcoming patients and other visitors in a courteous and friendly manner, 4) shows correct phlebotomy technique and the usage of devices in gathering specimens from babies to geriatric patients, 5) processes microbiology, immunology, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, chemistry and blood bank specimens, 6) processes specimens for recommendation to recommendation laboratories, 7) stocks and orders routine supplies, 8) preserves the tidiness of storage areas, trays, centrifuges, fridges, freezers and work areas, 9) procedures or load specimens on automated laboratory instrumentation in accordance with recognized policy and treatments, 10) Might be assist to Select up samples at health center/ OR, help lab specialty in sorting out samples for analysis and put away samples, help pathology, inventory, replenish supplies, order supplies, mail select up/ shipment, faxing, responding to phone, item deliveries, and so on.
