What You’ll Do
Summary:
Functions under the basic supervision of the Lead Phlebotomist, Phlebotomy Coordinator or Lab Manager this employee draws blood from patients in the doctor’s workplace or similar facility for analysis or other medical purposes.
Duties:
1. Greet client
2. Put together equipment such as tourniquet, needles, disposable containers for needles, blood collection devices, gauze, cotton, and alcohol on work tray according to requirements for defined test or procedures
3. Validate or tape-record recognize of patient or donor and reverse with client to allay fear of procedure
4. Apply tourniquet to arm, find available vein, swab puncture area with antibacterial and insert needle into vein to draw blood into collection tube
5. Withdraw needle, apply treatment to puncture site and label and shop blood container for subsequent processing
6. Puncture finger to draw blood

Experience: Conclusion of an accredited phlebotomy program or 1 year phlebotomy experience needed. Experience related to client service and quality client care preferred. Shows requirements of efficiency (ownership, team effort, interaction, compassion) that support client complete satisfaction and concepts of service excellence.
Performs other responsibilities as designated.
Individual will possess commensurate mix of education, experience and certifications.
