Responsibilities

The Phlebotomy Professional I mostly carry out skin puncture or venipuncture on clients of any ages for the purpose of obtaining a blood specimen for analysis in the scientific laboratory and is under the supervision of Laboratory Director/ Supervisor/ Supervisor. The PT I; 1) performs computer system information entry, filing, telephone communication and other clerical tasks, 2) has sufficient knowledge of the terms of tests purchased in the laboratory, 3) demonstrates excellent interaction skills and telephone etiquette in greeting clients and other visitors in a courteous and friendly manner, 4) demonstrates correct phlebotomy technique and making use of equipment in gathering specimens from babies to geriatric patients, 5) processes microbiology, immunology, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, chemistry and blood bank specimens, 6) processes specimens for referral to referral labs, 7) stocks and orders regular materials, 8) preserves the tidiness of storage locations, trays, centrifuges, refrigerators, freezers and work areas, 9) procedures or load specimens on automated laboratory instrumentation in accordance with recognized policy and treatments, 10) May be assist to Get samples at health center/ OR, help lab specialized in figuring out samples for analysis and put away samples, help pathology, stock, replenish supplies, order products, mail get/ delivery, faxing, responding to phone, item shipments, etc. 11) other tasks or duties might be assigned by the department manager/director.

Certifications

Education and Work Experience

1. High School Diploma, or comparable, needed

2. Present BCLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain present.

3. Minimum 1 year clinical laboratory experience preferred
