POSITION SUMMARY:

Carries out a wide variety of assistance functions for the Lab and Laboratory Service Locations. This position requires skills in some or all of the following practical locations: phlebotomy, point-of-care testing, specimen collection and preparation jobs. Maintains required proficiency skills in the required locations of know-how needed for the particular workspace.

32 hrs/week, 6: 00 am-2: 30 p, with rotating weekends and vacations. On-call on a rotating basis. Located at Lancaster General Hospital.

NECESSARY FUNCTIONS: Certified people should have the capability (with or without sensible lodging) to perform the following tasks:

  • Carries out venipuncture and capillary specimen collection in an ambulatory and medical facility setting.

MINIMUM REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS:

PREFERRED CREDENTIALS:

  • 6 (6) months employment in a healthcare setting.
  • Typing capability of a minimum of 50 wpm.
  • Experience in performing phlebotomy and/or point of care testing.
  • Licensure as a Phlebotomy Specialist, PBT (ASCP).
  • CPR certification.
