PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Identifies possible blood donor eligibility, performs phlebotomies for all kinds of collections including automated and apheresis procedures and post donation activities. Maintain a high donor retention rate by practicing exceptional customer care methods and technical abilities. Support the accomplishment of the business’s goals by following organizational and departmental policies and procedures to make sure compliance with regulatory companies and in accordance with existing Great Manufacturing Practices and safety guidelines.

DUTIES AND OBLIGATIONS:

  • Performs all designated tasks in compliance with internal SOPs and external guidelines. Brings compliance problems to the attention of management.
  • Assures quality client service to all customers.
  • Maintains great attendance and punctuality per the lack policy.
  • Determines the eligibility of all potential donors based upon the examination of the health history and physical findings. Accepts and defers donors properly based on appropriate SOPs. Paperwork is cool and understandable.
  • Carries out the phlebotomy and associated jobs based on appropriate SOPs. Takes effort to show the capability to process donors in a prompt way, using the bed set up specified by management. Seeks assistance when considered suitable.
  • Performs all quality assurance work procedures. Accurately completes all associated files in accordance with SOPs.
  • Attempts to reschedule all donors. Employees and converts donors for automated treatments when applicable. Shows commitment and assistance to accomplish business objectives.
  • Goes beyond customer support expectations by supplying a high degree of client service to all contacts in support of the ITxM Objective. Display screens awareness of donor perception. Utilizes proper subjects of conversation to engage the donor. Avoid unfavorable subjects of discussion.
  • Works favorably and respectfully with colleagues, supervisors and manager, displaying a commitment to teamwork. Shows an awareness of and level of sensitivity to multiculturalism.
  • Donor Coach Only. Duties include preparing the bus (load/unload), securely driving, parking, shipment of products to the manufacturing location and all other actions needed for donor coach operation. Preserve present CDL.
  • Carries out all other duties, at the discretion of management, as appointed.

REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge/Education

  • High school education or equivalent (G.E.D) is needed.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology chosen.
  • Preserves current CPR training is required.

Licenses/ Certifications

  • Medical Assistant, Qualified Medical Assistant, Lifesaver, Accredited Practical Nurse, or Phlebotomy certification needed or one year of Phlebotomy experience needed.
  • Donor Coach Only- Valid, verifiable CDL required with clean driving record or certified and willing to get CDL within one year of work required.
  • Preserve a valid state chauffeur’s license is needed.

Experience

  • One year client service experience.
  • Phlebotomy experience needed.

Skills/Abilities

  • Need to possess the abilities and abilities to successfully perform all appointed tasks and responsibilities.
  • Must be able to preserve privacy.
  • Ability to carry out phlebotomy.
  • Ability to multi task.
  • Language abilities must include the capability to check out, compose, speak English effectively and follow oral and written guidelines consistent with policies and treatment, SOPs or other requirements.
  • Ability to work without direct guidance.
  • Ability to work/participate in a team environment.
  • Capability to interact efficiently with the general public and staff to improve Central Blood Bank’s relationship with the neighborhood.
  • Keep a favorable focus in solving issues, which is observable in intonation, body movement and conversation.
  • Demonstrates team effort through both verbal and non-verbal actions that support department projects and changes through participation.
  • Follows departmental reporting lines when dealing with employee and donor concerns and/or tasks.
