Position Introduction:

The clinical assistant carries out scientific and administrative responsibilities under the instructions of the Scientific Nurse Manager, assists the MD/DO, NP and/or RN in administering care and treatment to individuals consisting of but not limited to phlebotomy and EKG in an expeditious, considerate and expert manner, assisting in a smooth circulation of health care practices, supplying basic and direct care to individuals as directed, and ensuring a good patient care experience in the PACE clinic.

  • Works as a member of the clinical group to supply high quality, timely service to clients.
  • Prepares client for evaluation by the RATE medical provider
  • Determines and reports emergency situation scenarios to nursing and service provider personnel, applies first aid as necessary and assists as his/her proficiency will permit.
  • Offers care proper to client population served.
  • Utilizes knowledge to offer services under established organization and department policies and treatments
  • Evaluations, understands, and abides by all department policies and procedures.
  • Tracks all laboratory requests and future laboratory draws.
  • Final lab copies are offered to designated company.
  • Acquires routine and emergency blood samples by veni-puncture in accordance with established quality assurance treatments both at the PACE center and in the participant’s home, as needed.
  • Tracks all results and charts labs in the electronic medical record.

Certifications

Education: High School Diploma, completion of qualified phlebotomy course and internship

Certification:

Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) with CPR, EKG, and phlebotomy accreditation required

Experience:

Minimum 1 year working with elderly population
